Life is
a sacred adventure. Attending worship
services strengthens family members,
but their spiritual foundation is
built around the kitchen table.
Family messages are critical. I
am curious about the altars in homes.
Is a television set an altar? Is a computer?
I believe in the everyday spirituality
of ordinary events. There is sacredness
in family rituals, routines, and
caring conversations.
Seminars that have been welcomed in various places of worship include:
Ages & Stages- In Celebration of You
Too often, during the hurry up moments of our lives we juggle our many "hats",
our things to do lists control our sense
of self and our attitude becomes fogged.
We lose sight of our successes, our
personal value, and day-to-day triumphs.
Research suggests that women are far
more concerned with the other people
in their lives than are men. As women,
our value and importance can only be
defined by our individual standards.
In this session, information on the
ages and stages of women's lives will
be presented to help you better define
your sense of self. In a restorative
group process we will discuss communication
techniques and benchmarks that help us
appreciate transition and relationships
in our lives.
A Sense of Belonging - Respect and Responsibility
Values, sense of self, decision making and coping skills are but a few of the lessons learned when one feels connected. Understanding and expecting respect, having a sense of responsibility, and an internal awareness of belonging are key ingredients for a sense of self esteem. To achieve these long term goals, careful considerations of daily interactions encourage self discipline and self reliance. Too often during moments of stress we say and do things we later regret. I will share simple techniques and insights to assist participants in connecting - in assuring those for whom we care that they are of value and important to us. Such messages are the stuff that provides emotional sustenance to counter feelings of inadequacy and loneliness. You will be encouraged to share ideas, concerns and viewpoints.
Parenting - A Juggling Act
Messages to parents from "experts" often are in contradiction with what parents know makes good sense. The confusion begins when shortly after becoming a parent, one quickly discovers this is a most challenging job. To make matters worse, each one must write one's own job description. As our children age, we keep hoping the job will get easier. We are eager for outside suggestions to ease the time required to make this relationship work. What works for others may or may not fit your personal values, options, or long term dreams. The day to day task of care requires energy that cannot be directed towards career tracking, tennis matches or exercise classes. Children require everyday attention. Child care and self care are often in conflict. How to juggle, motivate, celebrate and survive this grand parent adventure will be the focus of this seminar. Simple common sense approaches will be core to the presentation. Things of value most often are found within ourselves.
